Learning Objectives

1. Write an Expository Thesis - this means an INFORMATIVE OR EDUCATIONAL ESSAY. This is NOT an Argument.
For example, your article could EXPLAIN the new FACEBOOK changes. This is different from saying,
The new FACEBOOK changes are HORRIBLE and here's why ____, _____, _____. That's the NEXT essay. :)
2. Identify Writing Strategies
3. Identify your audience, & write article appropriate to that specific audience

1. Identify a magazine, website, newspaper, or newsletter that this article could be written for. This could include a Skating magazine, a church newsletter, a professional journal, a weekly newspaper, you name it. But you MUST NAME IT and include a link to the website so that your group can also examine the site that you are writing for. For example, one student in our class went to The Electric Daisy Carnival. He might want to inform/educate us about the experience. (Who, what, where, why, when) Avoid "I." This is who and what the carnival is, not who YOU are.	2. Writing Your Short Article Write a short expository (explanatory) article, 750+ words, appropriate for a magazine, website, newspaper, or newsletter. (NOTE: An Expository essay is NOT an Argument.) The article should explain one of the following: An idea A process An event A person A place A thing Who, Where, What, Why, When Educate and Inform us on your topic
Most magazines, businesses, churches, bands etc. have websites or newsletters. Please feel free to use this assignment as a way to get yourself published, provide a service to an organization that you are a part of or interested in, or just write about something that interests you. (No you do not HAVE to submit it for publication. But you do have to provide a place or link that you COULD submit it to. 1. Identify a magazine, website, newspaper, or newsletter that this article could be written for.
